Devon Bird, owner and founder of MODEN Boutique in Sidney, BC was looking to fill a need in the retail scene of the beachside community. Although Sidney is a small town it is also a hub for travel. Right next to the Victoria International Airport and Swartz Bay ferry terminal connecting the lower mainland to Vancouver Island, means the residents of this island town were likely to be upper-middle-class snowbirds, professionals, and women of means enjoying their retirement in one of the most beautiful places in the country. The styles and clothing options for these shoppers were limited to non-existent in Sidney, before MODEN. The Boutique’s brand needed a typemark that would represent a tone of refinement and elevation of style and fashion, yet also be approachable and fit within the Sidney retail landscape. The MODEN brand embraces individual style relies on principles of classics and staples, and is curated with the passionate eye of its owner. The detailed-oriented work that went into researching and refining the MODEN brand also needed to live up to those ideals. Since the brand and boutique was launched it has become a go-to spot for discerning shoppers all over southern Vancouver Island, the lower mainland and internationally online.
